New work at 55 West Broadway

I received an anonymous tip (thanks!) that there was a new mural on the side of Lazar’s Bazar.  That big black wall was just begging to be used.

I particularly like the strong black & white portrait below.
It’s great to see now work springing up in town.

Back Ally, Smith Family Books Store

I love a good alley and sometime even a bad one, must be the gato in me.  One never knows what they’ll find like this beauty located on the backside of the Smith Family Book Store, 525 Willammette Street.  It’s a slash on the ragged border between murals and graffiti.  I like its flowing style and the way the artist manages to convey a lot of expression with Spartan efficiency.  I also appreciate the nod to cubism executed with a can of spray paint.  Touché!
The books store inside is wonderful too, chocked (floor to ceiling) full of used books.

Brazen Tiger

This mural at Leung Martial Arts studio 1331, 7th Avenue strikes me as a Bruce Lee meets a Chinese cocktail lounge mashup done in the style of a Velvet Elvis painting.  I wasn’t sure weather or not to include this piece in the blog because I don’t care for it.  In the sprit of inclusiveness won out and I decided to include it.  I’ve got to admit, it’s hard to miss, even with your eyes closes.  Like it or not, it's a prominent feature on the muralscape of Eugene.
